Glyncoch Woods
Making it a lovely place for all to enjoy!
The Summer Project

The woods between Porcher Avenue and Lower Garth Avenue has been a bit of a fly-tipping area for some time. However, it is slowly improving after numerous clean up operations and the Glyncoch partnership have written to the local authority to ask for permission to do a summer project to start turning the area into a lovely place to walk, play and take picnics!

If permission is granted from the council and local residents, then local volunteers will be supported by ‘Build It’ team (People and Work Unity) and youth workers to undertake an improvement project.
It is anticipated that the project will start in the second week of the summer holidays.

Summer Holiday: Community Woodland improvement project

Week  2
Volunteers and council to carry out a mega ‘clean up’ of woodland (End of week trip)

Week 3
Volunteers and ‘Build It’ team to create ‘ welcome’ signs each end of the woods (end of week trip)

Week 4 - 6
Volunteers and ‘Build It’ team to make benches, picnic tables as well as bird boxes and hedgehog boxes
Woodland play activities to be organised by Communities First Youth and Play team (end of week trip and end of phase one of project celebration).

Over the next few years the area can be improved with sculptures, trees and adventure play equipment.
