PARK PILGRIMAGE
Glyncoch Residents Begin Raising Money For a New Park

On Saturday 12th April, Glyncoch residents and members of the Glyncoch Green And Friendly Action Group (GAFA), accompanied by some of the Glyncoch Communities First team, took to the streets donning Celt outfits and Glyncoch banners to re-tread an old pilgrimage route from Glyncoch to Llanwynno. The Residents spent the previous week getting sponsorships for the walk, aiming to raise money and awareness for a new park in Glyncoch. Beginning at Glyncoch Community Centre, residents of all ages walked up to Ynysybwl and on to Llanwynno, where they were greeted by a group of Morris Dancers who had just finished performing at the Brynfunnon Pub.

GAFA and the Glyncoch Communities First Team would like to thank Menter Allan for helping organize the walk, Brian Davies of Pontypridd Historical Centre for providing his heritage input and Daerwynno Outdoor Pursuits for assisting along the way and providing refreshnebts.

As you can see from the photographs, a great day was had by all and hopefully this is the first ‘step’ in helping to provide the children of Glyncoch with better playing facilities.
